Political Wire: Quote of the Day -- Taegan Goddard's Political Wire

The good Senator has laid down the line she'll use if she has to defend against Governor Palin in the primaries. Simple, truthful, and almost certainly effective. I'm glad the Republican party still has a few capable politicians in their midst. The last couple of weeks have been painful to watch, no mater how much joy I derived from mocking these weasels.

I can't say I'm entirely sad. Two healthy mainstream parties are good...but at the end of the day, I'm a loyal Dem.

I'm for a complete collapse of the Repubs after which the Democrats could then split into the Progressive and Blue Dog wings. I know, It's way too much to hope for.

She's one of the better members of the GOP caucus, they'd be more competitive electorally if more of their officials were like her. I met her briefly last year and she's a great lady.

"Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), in a statement on Gov. Sarah Palin's resignation, showing there is no love lost between the two GOP politicians."
Also showing Murkowski has some political sense as opposed to Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin didn't and doesn't have the intellectual or emotional capacity to effectively continue on. You could see it in her "deer in the headlights" look when (non)answering Katie Couric's questions during the campaign. Her blind ambition was just that: blind. A pity actually.

Yuppers -- Sarah Palin is the Little Maverick Who Couldn't.

"I couldn't take the stress of bein' a first lieutenant, which just goes to show ya should've made me a general!"

    Slap! Catfight!

Does Murkowski still fear a Palin primary challenge? Seems to me that Murkowski would defeat her. Her approval numbers are climing while Palin's are falling (and should plummet after this debacle). But you never know..."the base" likes Palin.

But in a catfight or actual fistfight, Palin would trounce Murkowski I'm sure. Palin would fight dirty.

Palin fiddles around the edges, feinting and vaguely gesturing hither and yon, making veiled accusations and this and that and... Murkowski goes ahead and says what she thinks -- or what she "officially" thinks, anyway.

I don't like either of them one bit, but Murkowski strikes me as basically up-front while Palin seems always to rely on innuendoes and insinuations and other sneaky, tacky, disingenuous little tricksies.
